The flagship work of a five-piece series dedicated to the human, L'écho du passant poetically illustrates the fleeting presence of bodies in motion. Kathleen Roby, a contemporary abstract painter, draws inspiration here from the winter landscapes of Métabetchouan, at the precise moment when snow begins to cover the ground.
From her studio, she observes the hurried silhouettes, bent by the north wind, and transposes them into an abstract form marked by gray, white and raw materials.
The use of Moroccan pigments, marble powder, and cheesecloth reinforces the silent emotion that runs through the composition. This work suggests the trace left by human passage, like an ephemeral breath in the cold.
