In this work titled POW-WOW , contemporary abstract artist Kathleen Roby explores the language of collage as a starting point for composition. With no predefined plan, she assembles fragments of paper she saved during her stays in New York and Calgary, blending textures, patterns, and memories.
Gradually, a central form emerges: that of a Native American dancer in full celebration, arms open to his audience.
Inspired by the cultural and symbolic richness of Pow-Wow dances, the work becomes an ode to joy, identity and movement.
