"Le temps" is a large-scale abstract artwork born from a suspended moment, one November morning in Métabetchouan. A gray, rainy, silent day... exactly what I needed to dive into introspection and connect with the slow, muffled rhythm of autumn . As the light becomes scarce and the days get shorter, I feel a form of inner peace, as if the world were allowing me to slow down, to savor.
This painting evokes this feeling of timelessness : the central composition, elongated vertically, evokes the shape of an hourglass , as if time itself were slowly flowing on the canvas. Warm colors – ochres, browns, reds, gold – blend with the raw textures, while bursts of turquoise and 24K gold leaf break the silence with their luminous brilliance.
The gestures are intuitive, spontaneous, sometimes restrained, sometimes overflowing, like memories that resurface in autumn. I used a variety of mediums to create rich contrasts and deep superpositions, highlighting the layers of past and present, superimposed over time.
