During a motorbike trip near Da Nang and Hoi An, Kathleen Roby discovers the Marble Mountains, Ngũ Hành Sơn, and begins the climb to the temple. In the morning mist, the Buddha statues gradually appear, as the first rays of sunlight filter through, revealing a warm and vibrant light.


 This experience informs his entire series dedicated to Vietnam. In A Un matin au temple, the contemporary abstract painter translates this atmosphere through a palette of reds, yellows, pinks, and mineral hues. Spontaneous gestures, layering, and traces of charcoal give the composition an almost tactile depth.


 The raw linen fabric, left visible in places, adds a natural, elegant and refined texture to the whole.
