Kathleen Roby, a contemporary abstract painter, presents Les crépuscules de Métabetchouan III , the latest work in a series of three paintings inspired by the very last glimmers of daylight on Lake Saint-Jean, in Quebec.


 This third work is distinguished by a deeper presence of reds, oranges, and grays, interspersed with touches of pink and gold. The light seems to emerge from the material itself, as if the last colors of the day remained suspended in the landscape after the sun had disappeared.


 Spontaneous gestures, layering of materials, and traces of writing lend the composition an intuitive yet meditative character. As in the first two works in the series, the landscape is never revealed literally. Rather, it seems to have dissolved, leaving behind an impression, a memory, an emotion.


 With The Twilights of Métabetchouan III , Kathleen Roby continues her homage to the unique sunsets of Lac Saint-Jean. The vast expanse of water amplifies the colours of the sky and transforms each evening into a changing spectacle of reds, oranges, yellows, and softer hues.


 The name Métabetchouan, of Innu origin and interpreted as "the stream that flows into the lake," reinforces the connection between the land, the water, and the unique light that inspires the artist. This latest work thus concludes a series dedicated to those fleeting moments when day fades, but its light lingers a little longer.
