Kathleen Roby, a contemporary abstract painter , presents Quiet Matter III , the third and final work in a series born almost by chance, through the exploration of an unusual color palette on a small format.

In this composition, magenta pink stands out with great intensity. It interacts with tones of brown, ochre, black, and white, creating striking contrasts while maintaining the breathing spaces that characterize the series. Gestures, lines, and traces of writing bring a spontaneous and intuitive dimension to the whole.

Like the other two works in the series, Quiet Matter III is based on a paradox: a powerful material that nonetheless gives rise to a work imbued with restraint. The title, deliberately chosen in English, evokes precisely this tension between the physical presence of the materials and the calm that emanates from the composition.

Wood ash and rust hold a special place in Kathleen Roby's artistic practice. The artist likes to use materials that have already lived and that carry within them a memory. Ash is what remains of fire. Rust is what remains of time. Through them, matter becomes the bearer of a story that transcends color and form.

This series is part of a broader exploration that has characterized Kathleen Roby's work for several years. Pigments from Morocco, ashes, rust, and other natural materials contribute to building a recognizable artistic signature, where matter becomes a true language.

With Quiet Matter III , the artist concludes this trilogy in a subtle balance between strength, matter, and silence , leaving the viewer free to find their own path within the composition.
